But who said that only summer is the ideal season to get married? Not at all, on the contrary. Even autumn has now been cleared as the perfect season for an effective “Yes, I do”.
Any good reason to choose autumn to get married? The temperature is still warm on sunny days, but not as muggy as in summer; the light is fantastic, especially at sunset, when it becomes soft, creating creepy chiaroscuro; the cost of the wedding is reduced compared to the ceremonies in the high season. And the colors … The colors are incredible: just think of the foliage of nature to understand the enveloping shades with which autumn can amaze. The green of the evergreens, of course, but also the orange, the yellow, the red, the purple, the peacock blue … Let’s find out together the ideal palette for an autumn wedding, applied to some unusual ideas.

- Bouquet
Flowers are always the protagonists of every wedding. Choose them in season: digitalis, roses, ferns, astilbe, ranunculus, eucalyptus … and your bouquet will turn into shades of peach and brown. Do you want to add a hint of deep red? Try anemones, tulips, viburnum, manuka, carnations, Japanese maple leaves, dahlias, and red berries. Add bird feathers such as pheasant, ostrich, peacock or guinea fowl to the bouquet: they will add a very boho chic touch to your look.
- Centerpieces
Likewise for centerpieces, rely on nature – pieces of trunk or tree stumps work well as stands for candles and flowers. Then decorate all around with red apples and chestnuts, but also dried figs and plums and pomegranates. Don’t you want to give up the pumpkin, the true protagonist of autumn? Dig it out and use it as a vase to hold a composition of fresh or dried flowers.
- Location
Getting married in the middle of nature, in a wood or in a garden, is the best, because in this way you can admire the spectacle of the foliage up close. Look for a rustic place full of natural materials, such as a wooden barn, farmhouse, or castle. If you want something more elegant like a villa, choose one surrounded by nature. - Food & beverage
Beyond the main dishes, for which you can focus on local seasonal specialties – such as polenta and bruscitt or tortelli with pumpkin, or even a good braised meat – you can set up, next to the confetti station, that of popcorn, prepared in many different flavors: caramel, cinnamon, black pepper, cheese … Do not forget the caramelized apples, perfect as a dessert, but also as a placeholder. To drink, why not think of a corner with hot cider or mulled wine? Do you prefer to offer a cocktail? Go with these combinations, all autumnal: rum, apple, and cinnamon; whiskey, maple syrup and orange; pear brandy, pear and lemon juice; gin, elderflower and grapefruit; a cranberry margarita; Chambord, vodka and pomegranate; crème de cassis and prosecco.
- Wedding dress and accessories
Last but not least, the wedding dress. Beyond the model, give it character, thinking about the details. For example, a purple leather jacket paired with matching ankle boots are the perfect combination for a rock but comfortable bride. On the head, do not forget to embellish the hairstyle with a crown of autumn flowers. Dried flowers are also beautiful, but fresh flowers add a lot of vibrancy and the colors stand out more in your wedding photos.
